Konsenbildung?
– looking at the edu-meltdown
Im Rahmen von einigen Treffen, einem Workshop und einer
öffentlichen Diskussion soll versucht werden, Studierendenproteste
in Österreich in Beziehung zu den jüngsten Entwicklungen der
internationalen Studierendenbewegung und einer breiteren sozialen
Bewegung gegen das kapitalistische (Wirtschafts)system zu setzen.
Ein Hauptaspekt der Diskussionen wird die Idee der edu-factory sein
– die Universität als Teil eines weitergreifenden sozialen Kampfes,
in dem u.a. das Eigentumsrecht von Wissen, die Reproduktion von
Arbeitskräften und die permanente Generierung sozialer und
kultureller Hierarchien auf dem Spiel stehen.
Aus dieser Perspektive sollen einige zentrale Fragen zur Figur der
StudentIn und ArbeiterIn, zur Rolle, die die Universität nicht nur
ideologisch, sondern auch als konkreter Ort der Profitgewinnung in
der Reproduktion des Kapitalismus spielt, und den Möglichkeiten
von Studierendenbewegungen formuliert werden.

A short series of meetings aiming to reflect upon some of the relations
between capitalism and education. There´ll be a focus on the student
struggles in Austria, within the wake of recent student protest and the
broader social movement against capitalist economy.
A key component of this series will be the paradigm of the edu-factory;
the idea of the university as part of a wider social struggle “where the
ownership of knowledge, the reproduction of the labour force, and the
creation of social and cultural stratifications are all at stake.”
From here the aim is to tackle some of the central questions concerning
the figures of the student and worker, the student protest movement both
recently and using some historical examples, and the contemporary role
the university plays in reproducing capitalism, not only ideologically but
also as a direct site of profit and accumulation.
